ROAD TO SOCHI
Bates is making his second Olympic appearance after earning an 11th-place finish at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games with his former skating partner of 11 years, Emily Samuelson. Following the Vancouver Games, he began competing with current partner Madison Chock. The pair garnered a third-place finish at the 2013 Four Continents Championships and two bronze medals on the 2013-14 Grand Prix circuit. With a second-place finish at the 2014 National Championships, Bates returns to the Olympic Winter Games in search of a podium finish.
