ROAD TO SOCHI
Mortensen and partner Preston Griffall have been competing together for seven years, and both began luging as part of the U.S. Army's World Class Athlete program. Highlighted by a team relay silver medal on the 2013-14 World Cup circuit, Mortensen and his partner earned six top-10 finishes in the lead-up to Sochi. After being shut out of the Vancouver Games due a race-off, the 2012 national champion earned his first Olympic berth with a ninth-place finish at the 2013 Park City World Cup.
