ROAD TO SOCHI
As one of the fastest sprinters in U.S. history, Newell earned two top-10 finishes during the 2013-14 World Cup season, including a fifth-place finish in team sprint classic at the Nove Mesto World Cup. The two-time Olympian also aided the U.S. to a 10th-place finish in the 4x5-kilometer at the 2013 World Championships – his sixth career world championships appearance. With the best U.S. men’s sprint result in Olympic history – a 16th-place finish at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games – Newell is looking to make history again in Sochi.
