ROAD TO SOCHI
After an impressive 2011-12 campaign – highlighted by two X Games medals – Yater-Wallace continued his winning ways during the 2012-13 season. After minor shoulder surgery, he won the silver medal at X Games Aspen, finished second at the U.S. Grand Prix in Park City, Utah, and won the world cup event in Sochi, Russia. He continued his podium streak with a silver medal at the world championships and a repeat of his gold-medal performance at X Games Tignes, closing out a phenomenal season that saw him on the podium in every competition he entered. After breaking two ribs, he was unable to participate at the Olympic qualifying events, but received a discretionary spot on the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team.
