ROAD TO SOCHI
Nearly two months after the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Gunther suffered a horrific injury during a race and nearly lost her foot. She was told she would never skate again. She battled her way back and earned a spot on the 2013-14 world cup team. After narrowily missing a chance to represent the U.S. at the Vancouver Games, she garnered her first Olympic berth with a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-meter at trials.
